ACS wins contract for one of the largest public works in the history of Sacramento (California) for 379 million

The ACS Group, through its subsidiary Dragados USA has been awarded the contract for the construction of the Biological Nutrient Removal Project in Sacramento (California) for a total of 379 million euros commissioned by the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District. This project is the largest amount awarded within the EchoWater Program, an ambitious plan that involving some of the most significant public works in the history of the capital of the State of California. The infrastructure will treat and recycle the sewage collected in Sacramento County for returning to the natural environment, according to the demanding specifications and regulations of the State of California.  Furthermore, it will also, allow the removal of most of the ammonia and nitrates present in the waste water with the aim of meeting the latest and strictest environmental requirements for water quality.

The broad international experience of Dragados in similar projects allowed it, firstly, to be pre-qualified among a reduced group of American firms and, secondly, to optimise its bid and thus become the bidder selected by the authorities for the award of the contract.

With this contract the ACS Group reinforces its strong presence in the U.S. construction market where it has consolidated its growth during 2015. Specifically, by increasing production by 25% thanks to the projects awarded in the second half of 2014, that have already entered their implementation stage. In all, 44% of construction sales have been generated in the US, and as a whole, the current North America portfolio stands at 20 billion euros of which the 75% corresponds to the US, with the portfolio growing by 61% in the past two years.
 
The main projects for 2015 include the contract for the construction of the California high speed rail system with a length of around 100 km for an amount of 811 million euros and the US 181 Harbor Bridge Replacement in Corpus Christi (Texas) for an amount of 900 million euros.
